Isn't the agent who shows my homes representing me? Not necessarily. Unless you have signed a buyer agency agreement, the agent showing you homes may not represent you. In fact, that agent may legally be considered a sub-agent of the seller's agent. This can leave you standing alone...less well represented than you deserve to be.

A buyer agency agreement simply states that your agent will represent your best interests, hold what you say in confidence, and is committed to helping you find the perfect home. In return, you agree to work exclusively with your agent throughout the purchase of your new home.
