CASA GRANDE, AZ – The Casa Grande Fire Department is pleased to work in coordination with the National Fire Protections Association (NFPA) to celebrate Fire Prevention Week from October 8-14, 2017. This year’s theme, “Every Second Counts: Plan 2 Ways Out!” works to better educate the public about the critical importance of developing a home escape plan and practicing it.
“In a typical home fire, you may have as little as one to two minutes to escape safely from the time your smoke alarm sounds,” said Fire Prevention Officer, Martha Bender. “That’s why home escape planning is so important in a fire situation. It ensures that everyone in the household knows how to use that small window of time wisely.”
In support of Fire Prevention Week, the Casa Grande Fire Department will host a variety of outreach events to share these life saving messages with residents. The schedule of events for the week is as follows:
Monday, October 9 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm
Campaign Kick-off at Walmart | 1741 E Florence Blvd.
Stop by for the presentation of the Mayor’s Fire Prevention Week Proclamation, fire prevention material giveaways and more!
Wednesday, October 11 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm
Dorothy Powell Senior Center | 405 E. 6th St.
Join us for an Ice Cream Social and Fire Safety Jeopardy game with seniors.
Saturday, October 14 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm
Open House at Station 504 | 1637 E. McCartney Rd.
Meet your firefighters, learn fire prevention tips, tour the fire safety house, enjoy games, giveaways, and family fun!
